Anna stars in Macbeth and Iolanta as part of the Metropolitan Opera’s 2014-15 season

Feb 13, 2014

Following acclaimed performances in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore, Anna Netrebko returns to the Metropolitan Opera in the company’s 2014-15 season for another pair of Russian and Italian works, per yesterday’s season announcement.

In the fall, Anna makes her house role debut as Lady Macbeth in Verdi’s Macbeth, starring opposite Zeljko Lucic as the doomed Thane of Cawdor. The duo is joined onstage by Joseph Calleja as Macduff and René Pape as Banquo under the baton of Fabio Luisi. The performances run from September 24 through October 18, with October 11’s performance launching the Met’s popular Live in HD series.

Anna is next heard at the Met in January when she headlines the company’s premiere of Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, performed in a double-bill with Bartók’s Duke Bluebeard’s Castle. Anna reprises her account of Tchaikovsky’s eponymous heroine, paired with her frequent costar Piotr Beczala. Valery Gergiev conducts.
